Changing coastal processes can mean that pressure from weather and sea varies significantly along the coastline. Sometimes a part of the coast will become subject to erosion. The Coastal Management Team will monitor the situation and record data that can be used to help evaluate the situation, and to inform decision making.

The Anglian Coastal Monitoring programme (ACM) is a continuous and long-running programme to monitor longer term coastal changes over the Anglian Region which helps high-level and strategic planning, through coastal and estuarine process studies, to the design and post-project evaluation of schemes.
